The Adventure Sports Fair, the largest event of the segment in Latin America, marked its tenth year with an important promotion of the development of the adventure sports and tourism market in Brazil.
The fair, which closed this Sunday (7th September), brought in 61,100 visitors over its four days. Adventure is recognized as an excellent leisure option for the city and a space where consumers have the opportunity to try out various kinds of sports as well as accessories and equipment.
The success of the fair in terms of the visiting public is based on the variety of attractions which Adventure offers for all tastes and ages, from tourism, equipment and sustainable projects, and a special area for children, off-road, camping, sailing and diving, among others.
“The 2008 Adventure Sports Fair exceeded all expectations in terms of visitors which indicates there is a public extremely interested in the options for adventure tourism and sports with the concept of adventure, living in harmony with the environment”, said Sérgio Franco, director of Adventure Sports Fair.
Volume of Business
In a decade of adventure tourism and sports, the event beat records and brought together companies and services into a single place. As the principal channel for communication between public and private initiatives and NGO’s, the fair is always the stage for the most important events and happenings in the adventure segment. And at the same time it is a fair directed towards the professional visitor and the end consumer, publicizing products and services towards a high level of public and opinion formers.
For the second year, the event promoted business negotiations between exhibitors and potential clients in the so-called Business Point, generating R$ 95 million in business for the equipment segment.
Around 250 meetings were held at Business Point in comparison with the 130 in 2007. Three hundred exhibitors from 26 Brazilian states and 16 countries took part in Adventure Sports Fair, which took place between the 4th and 7th of September in the Imigrantes Conventions Center in São Paulo.
“Up to 2007, Business to Business deals were made in the middle of the consumers which ended up distracting the focus from the negotiations. To attend to this gap, we created Business Point, a space reserved exclusively for business” said Sérgio Franco. “This growth in the number of meetings in the second year show the importance of the Adventure Sports Fair for the segment as a promoter of new business. The event has the fundamental role of promoting business and both exhibitors as well as traders visiting the fair witnessed this. The response we obtained was very positive, and the proof of this is that 30% of the contracts for participation have been renewed”, concluded the fair director.
